Pub 105: The Piper Bar

I must have been boozing semi-regularly in the piper for about 3 years and it wasn't until a month ago I realised there was an upstairs. I already knew I was a dafty, but what a revelation!

And an even bigger plus, this corner spot overlooking, an admittedly barren and empty George Square, is probably the crown jewel of all people watching spots in Glasgow.

I've never really understood the joy in said hobby, but clearly I've just been watching the wrong people. Now in my new flat, I've been peering from the safety of my 2nd floor lookout at all the hardjaws and ne'er-do-wells of maryhill road.

One pensioner parked his wheelchair outside my window and screamed at any car, dog or pedestrian that had the audacity to come within 10 feet of him. Half an hour later, a man came out of the medical centre, checked left and right, before shaking all the apples out of a tree, stuffing his pockets and running away. This is genuine prime-time entertainment.

If ever you have a spare hour, head for this table.
