Pub 96: The Machair Bar

Found out a couple weeks back that it's actually really easy to feel like a complete VIP in glasgow.

Step 1: Wander along great western road on a beautiful sunny evening and grab the first pavement seats you can find. You likely have to scratch, hiss and elbow to fend off your competitors, but once you have that seat, it's yours. Hold onto it for dear life.

Incidentally, the establishment that you choose is completely irrelevant. Sit outside the estate agent or kebab shop as long as they're in the sun. Cross over to tescos for some own-brand bottles and just try to blend in.

Step 2: Watch as the crowds of punters try their luck at getting a seat. Sunnies on, smug grin, and tip your icy pint as they give up and move onto the next place.

Congrats, you are officially in the upper echelons of glasgow high society.

I should say that machairs looked pretty nice, but I can honestly say I paid the interior almost zero attention. When GWR is in the sun, it's the best place in the world.
