Pub 78: Avant Garde

Once again, I managed to find myself responsible for organising some christmas work night out silliness. Niamh was to sort the dinner (mexican!) and I was to sort the entertainment for after.

Reliable as always, I booked all 14 of us into a ceilidh. Except this was not the grand ballroom of Sloans, but instead a complete unknown: Avant Garde of King Street. A part of glasgow known only for it's massive NCP car park.

We burst through the doors, dressed to the nines, gallus as gods. It was in that single moment that my error of judgement became quite immediately apparent.

Sweeping my eyes left to right: pensioner, pensioner, pervert, pensioner. The christmas deccies looked as if they were a permanent relic from their 2007 celebrations, and the lady behind the bar could have dozie-doed me through a window.

When it got to the ceilidh, it was just one guy with 3 teeth and a guitar. It was quite clear why the ticket was 5 pounds for 3 whole hours of entertainment.

And it was perfect! A beautiful night of bevvying in every regard.
