Pub 80: The Steps Bar

Happy new year, one and all. I like to see myself as an optimist. And, however foolish it is, with every annual restart comes a renewed hope for life, a desire to improve oneself, and - in my particular case - fresh motivation to double down on the bevvying. I'm really looking forward to it.

And to kick things off we have the mighty steps bar on glassford street. This is where the merchant city slowly fades into the city centre, but the prices and clientele change dramatically. It's a boozer where cash payments are encouraged, and good manners discouraged. You'll get a funny look for saying 'please' at the bar, but you won't get a doing. It strikes a really nice balance.

Also, I'm a big fan of the art deco interior. Especially as there are so few of these left in glasgow. According to their facebook, the pub is modelled on the Observatory Bar on the HMS Queen Mary :)
