Pub 83: The Old Toll Bar

Feeling like an adventure? Take the subway to shields road (not advisable at the best of times), cross under a motorway, walk about 100 yards along a grass verge, swerve some dodgy punters on the way. With some luck you'll stumble in here.

The old toll is wedged uncomfortably between the union bar and the grand ole opry on paisley road west. One proudly waves the union jack, and the other salutes the confederate flag. Rock and hard place come to mind.

Despite its noisy neighbours, and being lit up like the mother superior's skag den, this is a gorgeous pub inside. It's kitted out in all of its original wooden fittings, very cosy, and with a great guinness for around 4 quid, you really can't go too far wrong.

Big fat recommend!
