Pub 76: The Doublet
I've heard two ways of pronouncing the name of this pub. One is the correct way, and is said by almost everyone: "Duh-Blit". The alternative is said by the other 1% of the world who go to Glasgow uni, in their finest french tongues: "Doo-Blay".
Unfortunately for almost all of us, that 1% make up a solid 90% of the doublet's clientele, and they really are a detestable bunch.
Last time in we took a gamble and slipped out the back, headed for the fairly hidden lounge bar. I thought we'd hit jackpot as we we found ourselves in amongst the grandas - a secret haven free of the hobby-horsers and quidditch dorks. Unfortunately, the man behind the bar was the GU final boss. Seeing him read noam chomsky on shift, I really had to admit defeat at that point.
