Sometimes I think that I'm becoming a snob, getting accustomed to spending £5.80 on a pint of lager and looking badly upon a place that doesn't serve 'authentic asian street food'. But then all it takes is a visit to one really great place that does all the basics properly, and everything is right in the world again.
Vinyl bar is wonderful. I think if I talk too much I'll end up ruining it but I love that it's just the perfect size and layout to create some actual ambience. There's not a lot of footfall at this bit near the saltmarket so it feels like anyone who's there is in for the night and it just gives it a real homely feel. Don't remember looking at my bill once on the night but I don't think we were getting ripped off at all so that was nice.
Shoutout also to the mad barkeep/bouncer who was certain he'd kicked me out of another pub some years ago. Great character and I just hope he doesn't remember that particular night at the priory 5 years ago 🤞.
