Pub 35: The Priory / Brunswick Cellars

Jesus God. There is something deeply unholy about this establishment. From what I've heard, the priory's days are numbered, but it's returning from the dead as the 'Brunswick Cellars'. You can call it what want but there is no way of lifting the curse that haunts this wretched place.

Without doubt, some of the messiest, silliest, and downright mankiest nights out of my life have been in here. The sweatiest, dingiest, smelliest hole of a pub to have ever existed. If you've ever been to a gig in here and ended up in the mosh, you'll know that is about as close to death as you can come. Honestly, quite a thrill.

At the same time, we need places like this. It would be an awful world if every pub was called something like 'soho summers' and played angel olsen all night. I certainly don't think I'd have gotten to clink beers with ellie rowsell in a pub like that.

If the priory is dead, I look back on it with disgusted fondness. Rest in peace.
