Pub 59: The Lab

Just read yesterday that the lab is going to be shutting for good this weekend 😢. I can't confirm or deny that, but what I do know for sure is that there will be a special spot in pub heaven reserved for it. One of the best all-rounders, and the beer garden was a bit of a city centre sanctuary, just hidden away from the swathes of youths en-route to wunderbar.

It's also in my personal hall of fame for being the first and fastest pub I've ever been kicked out of. Think it was 2017, and the lab was to be the 5th or 6th stop of the engineering sub crawl. Obviously already quite smashed, we swaggered in the door when someone who'd got in early just decked it and threw a whole tray of test tube shots up in the air. The woman absolutely lost the rag and booted us all out immediately. Must have been inside no longer than 30 seconds.
