Knees trembling, hands fidgeting in pockets, there's a monkey crashing cymbals in the brain, and, despite having only eaten a stodgy chippy supper, mum's spaghetti is all over the pavement. Yes, it's the final approach on the mission to get past the kittys bouncer.

There was a period of around 6 months when I got knocked back from the door at least 3 times, which was more times than I'd actually gotten inside in that period. In fairness to the bouncers, I was quite sloshed on at least 2 of those occasions but I maintain they should have let me in regardless.

The most painful part is actually the wait itself, as the queue usually begins somewhere around anniesland. One particular occasion sticks in the brain where we waited about 45 minutes, feeling optimistic about the night ahead, with around 5 people between us and the door. Wiktor bursts out from the nextdoor pub exclaiming his arrival, handing out drams to anyone that would take one.
